I have a 2015 Chevy duramax crew cab long box. I love the truck and the longevity of the engine. I would like to keep it, but I want to build a more overlanding rig as I prefer out of the way camping. Does anyone have a vehicle of this size built. I would love to see what you got and get any ideas you may have.

I’ve wheeled with a few Ford Raptor’s and an old Burb. I’ve seen some pretty built up Dodge diesels. They seem to do fine so long as it doesn’t get overly tight. I also tow off road, so if I can snake through, usually a full size rig can too. I would think front ground clearance and some sort of rocker guard would help protect things, but again?

We run our 06 f350 extra cab 9' cab/chassis because it's what we had and it's paid for lol! But it's been a great rig and has got us into some fairly tight spots. I'd like to bring the frame/bed back to the better departure angle of the camper, but maybe after I hang us up on it I'll do it haaaha! I haven't anchored us yet, so it stays for a bit longer I guess.

This is our rig "Modelo-350" He's a 2011 F-350 Gasser 6.2L with a 3" front/rear lift sitting on 35's. Older Bronco Pop-up sits inside a 6.5' utility bed. Yours will be about 2 feet longer due to the long bed and crew cab instead of Super crew style. We don't have any issues until it comes to hairpins and narrow widths.thumbnail_KIMG1195.jpgthumbnail_KIMG1197.jpg

We traded in the LX570 for a Ram 3500 w/ AT Overland Atlas Camper. Current project is building out the interior of the camper. We'll likely post an article along with videos of this project in the coming months!IMG_1495.jpeg

Building out the interior for the camper using 80/20 aluminum extrusions for the framing. Once that's done, I'll begin working on the birch plywood for everything!

very rad! What camper is that?
Hi,
"Ernie" is a 2016 F350D cc 9 ft flatbed, 2 1/2 lift 37's camper is a custom flatbed by All Terrain Campers, very capable. Length has got me once or twice, weight has got me once, but width is the only real issue i have had. Has been to the Arctic ocean, baja and lots of places in between. Anything more hard core and i take the gladiator.

I'm working on my trail warrior rig as well! Full Size rigs, especially new trucks are fantastic for touring, but what's the trails get tight and a bit more technial, I'd like something smaller like a GX or gen 1 Tacoma.

Mine is a short bed, 6 ft, but we go a lot of places with it. I’ve since removed the passenger side box and place my spare tirevthere instead

NEw here and not a pick up but I run a 2005 Sequoia and love it! At 6'4" I have plenty of room, Have it lifted. big tires and putting in rear air locker very soon. Toyota comes with a diff lock from factory...... So far not to many "to big a rig to go" situations.
