After moving venues for last year's Shasta overland rally (due to weather) to the Lost Coast, we decided to return for 2025. While the weather was a bit breezy and cooler than expected, at least we didn't have to deal with any torrential downpours like last year! We ended up with a solid showing of folks both old and new.
The weekend ended up being pretty mellow, with plenty of room to spread out given the size of the venue. On Friday, a large group of about a dozen rigs went down to Shelter Cove to explore the trails down that way, while a smaller grouped explored Mattole Road and then looped back through the redwoods. On saturday, another sizable group went drove Prosper Ridge to Windy Point, and most of us made the hike to the abandoned Punta Gorda Lighthouse.
It may not have been ideal river weather this time around, but expect us to return in 2026 with an even stronger showing. Who knows, we may even host a quick shindig towards the end of summer!
