Mendo Christmas Tree Run

No plans this year. Looking at a possible campout sometime over winter. Right now I'm dealing with some vehicle issues. The Ram is sidelined with another twisted front axle housing, and I'm currently building out a Lexus GX460, but it needs a body mountain chop for additional clearance for the 35" tires. I need to ensure that's done before I take off road.

But looking at these options for a mid-winter campout, possibly a NYE celebration?!
- Olema Campground if open (West Marin)
- Sugarloaf State Park (Santa Rosa)
- Mt Madonna County Park (Santa Cruz Mountains)
- Davis Flat Campground (Mendocino NF near Stonyford)
- Oak Flat Campground (Mendocino NF Lake Pillsbury)

I'd vote for Davis Flat!

@Rock Hopper Have you camped there before? I've seen photos and driven by it a couple of times, but never actually stayed there. I figured a NYE celebration might be fun over there.

@OTG Ben Yep!

Well, not actually at Davis Flat, but at South Fork right across the street. There's tons of room at both spots and also the Gray Pine Group Campground and Fouts Springs right there. I had South Fork to myself and had a raging bonfire. :ROFLMAO:

You can see Davis Flat on the right in this video at the 5:00ish mark, and the campground I pull in to is South Fork.

Davis Flat is big and flat, with not much shade. South Fork and Fouts Spring are near Stony Creek and have trails to access it.

Well, change of events. My truck is still in the shop so I wasn't able to make this weekend's friendsgiving event down at Oceano Dunes. I need to get out soon, so the Xmas tree hunt is on! Keep an eye on the events page. We'll most likely host this at Oak Flat Campground in Mendocino NF.
