Hey Greg,

Have you ever come across one of the Iglhaut Allrad Sprinter 4x4 conversions? I think you can put 37" wheels, and its got some half decent articular from what I've seen (at least compared to the typical Sprinter 4x4 platform).

As far as I know there is only one in the Us. You have to ship your 2wd Sprinter where they do the conversion.
Whitefeather in Red Bluff converts Sprinters using Dana axles etc. I drove one of their low top T1n conversions.
It was fine. In retrospect I wish I had gone that route instead of a new 4x4.

Thanks for letting me know about Whitefeather. Will check out their front bumper options as I live one town away in Chico.

Solid Dana axles on a sprinter.... intriguing! Although, with the increased articulation, that could get a bit nerve racking for the high roof sprinters!!

I think I would only do it on a low roof Sprinter. My only concern about the whole setup is the strength of the Mercedes parts that are left in the chain.

I saw the AllRad guy and van at the Adventure Van Expo in Hood River last week. Pretty incredible.

Finally did the CDT with 4 Jeep’s, a e350 Van, a ranger with RTT, a Landy with RTT and my Sprinter.
we started at the Mexican border in Antelope Wells and ended up bailing out near Missoula t because of extreme smoke. So we’ve done 7/8 this of the CDT.

I've read very mixed reviews on the Whitefeather 4x4 conversion...probably would not consider that option. Allrad is legit, not my thing but certainly a very capable Sprinter.

Any adventurous Sprinter owners in Marin county who like to travel occasionally with another Sprinter?
I’m heading to San Rafael Swell May 12, then Moab and finally over the Henry mtns. Probably be about 15 days. Meeting my fellow Sprinter owner from ABQ but room for another if you are up for it.

What trails do you plan to hit? I'm in SLC and I've done a number of trails in San Rafael and the Henry's the last year. It's worth noting there was some extensive flooding in San Rafael and the Henry's just before Labor Day last year and a number of trails that go into or through washes are now much more difficult than prior to the flooding. In Fact, we went over the Henry's on Labor Day weekend and got right to the end and found the road completely washed out and impassable...had to do a 4hr detour! I'm not sure it's fixed yet, I'll try and find out. Anyway, if you are planning to do any of the trails I have done I can give you some intel. I may even be up for joining on the 13-14th if I can get away.

Thanks for the info but I’ve been going to the swell for about 40 years I pretty much know all the trails. some of them can’t be done with Sprinter unless you have really big balls which at 82 I don’t. thanks for the Intel on Henry‘s though there are a couple of ways to get out of there so I’ll check it out I was thinking of coming out near the Burr Trail on Notom Road
I was hoping to find a Sprinter owner in my neck of the woods who is retired and has no time restraints.

Okay.

This is where the road was washed out. We came from the north (Hanksville) up and over lonesome beaver then headed out to the south west (Notom Rd) but had to back track north and east out to hwy 95. Circled is where the road was washed out.
