Northern CA and beyond Grand tour - May 2022

Hi,

Just wanted to share our latest trip report used a lot of the resources from OTG for it.

From the Bay Area stops were:

Day 1 - Drive to Usal Beach - Quiet on a week day
Day 2 - Southern portion of the Lost Coast trail to Avenue of the Giants with a camping on the 36 along the rattlesnake creek
Day 3 - Trinity Lake (relatively low this year) nice off road around the lake which offers some great camping spots
Day 4 - Crater Lake, OR - We stayed at a cabin there
Day 5 - Lava Beds monuments back iN CA staying at the Indian Well Campground, $10 a night, caving options and nice walks in the area
Day 6 - Modoc County Trail first section - mostly flat forest trail, checked out a few camping spots there such as Reservoir F, Reservoir C and Jan's Reservoir. All great spots for an over night stop near a lake. We did not do the second section of the Modoc trail beyond the Goose lake on the Buck mountain, but that surely looks the best part of that trail.
Day 7 - High Rock Canyon in NV - There was no mud and this spot is spectacular. One somewhat challenging water crossing, the rest was cake - again - there was no mud end of May. Stayed at the Soldiers Meadow Campground
Day 8 - Drove down to the Small Playa in the Black Rock Desert - better protected from the wind than the 3 Miles Playa of Burning Man.
Day 9 - Drive back to the bay.

Great trip, awesome pictures, lots of different sights, bit of history and science!

You packed quite the overlanding trip in a little over a week! Must have been pretty cool seeing all of those varying landscapes. After visiting Mojave and Death Valley, I've been itching to get to Black Rock. Thanks for the photos!
