East Mojave Heritage Trail: Nov 19-23

Under the heading "My Own Stupidity Knows No Bounds" --- remember my radio crapped out very early on the trip? Well, I "checked" the relay box. Turns out the little BRIGHT RED light in front of the fuse means "the damn fuse is blown". Who knew. On the switch panel inside the cab, a little red...

East Mojave Heritage Trail: Nov 19-23

I'm bringing Hanna (11), Kiefer(13) and probably my wife (Marilee) and maybe even the new dog (Oh, I hope not ...) 😀

I find it challenging enough to cook enough volume for my family of 4 (of healthy eaters), given my stove and pot/pan repertoire and the table prep limitations. I can't even imagine cooking enough for 30 people out in the sticks ---- Sorry, this wouldn't be my first choice.

Nice. See you all in about a month. We've done the Mojave Road before, and it'll be nice to explore some of the surrounding areas now.

Great pictures, Ben. Unfortunately I took very few pictures. I missed the first day with you guys, but I think that climb to the 1500 ft overlook is a MUST HAVE for your upcoming tour. I would consider it a definite highlight, especially if you went clockwise, included the upper section of the...

Trail Run: Black Rock Desert Adv Route Aug 10 - 15, 2022

Hi Ben -- since I'm coming early Friday morning, is there a good place to intercept you? Soldier Meadows and backtrack towards the Murder Site? Is there a shorter route to get to your Thursday night camp? ---- Andreas

You can compare to our Four Wheel Camper Hawk. Maybe you have already in your research ....

We're doing Fossil Falls because it's easier for our southerly arrival direction . Check it out on Google maps --- about halfway between Indian Wells and Olancha o the east side of hte highway.

Good --- 'cause I wouldn't want you to be the biggest rig on the trip with that GIANT Northstar camper on the back.😁

By the way, if any of you have 4th Graders, they are eligible for a free National Parks Pass. We plan to get ours at Death Valley NP. They're good all year (for the school year and slightly beyond) for your entire family for entry into any national park. It's a perk for being a 4th Grader.

Sorry for the late reply. Yeah, we're just going to pull into Fossil Falls campground and see what we find. We're going to make it in daylight hours --- I like to see where I camp. We'll probably leave late morning -- 10-11am -- since my wife is taking the day off, and I'm pulling the kids out...

The good thing is, there are trips and roads for every type of rig. Even though I have the Four Wheel Camper, I envy you the interior space of your van. With our family of four, sleeping space always feels cramped for me. I think we may have to upgrade to one of those 6-wheel-drive behemoths...

I agree that it's a tight canyon. I watched a couple of videos where Ford Sportsmobile vans were going through, and they seemed to make it. I also think UP would be easier than coming down.

We have 4+ inches of lift on 35's with sliders. We are similar in size to the F150, with almost identical width.
