Christmas Baja MX Bomb South, Slower North, want to join?

We're debating a Baja winter break. thinking right now is I'll drive down myself and bomb it - 4 days to get to La Ventana. Family flies down and we meet up with friends at a house for a week over Christmas. Then wife, myself and my teenager drive back and actually have fun on the way home for ~7+ days. Back in 2018 we did a similar van trip down to Cabo, had a great time.

Since we'll likely be alone (unless we randomly find forum folks/Facebook/etc who join for parts), we'll be looking for the softroading adventure, maybe stay at campgrounds every now and then too. So... any favorites or highlights of great places to stay or see? Already digging through all the details in the various Baja MX routes on OTG to pick out the parts that look like a good fit, but never hurts to ask the source.

Sounds like a fun trip. If you are looking to have other folks join you, you may consider changing the title of your thread. We have A LOT of folks itching to get down to Baja, and we have quite a few folks on here that have traveled extensively in Baja as well. I'm going to tag a few of them below to see if they have any recommendations for you.

The Cape Loop could be a fun trip while you're staying down in Cabo. You could do part of it as a day trip.

Going to take this in 3 parts, anyone who wants is welcome to join for part 1 or 3.

Part 1: Quick bomb south. Cross @ Mexicali Dec 18th AM. Sleep San Felipe. Day 19th sleep @ Mulege. Dec 20th La Ventana, joining some friends. Join me if you want to caravan quickly down south.

Part 2: Christmas with family and friends in La Ventana.

Part 3: Dec 26 (or 27th, not sure yet) - Jan 3rd. Drive back up. If anyone wants to join it'll be my 13 year old, wife and I. No firm plans yet, probably a mix of longer drive days and slow hang out days. If folks join may make it adventurous, if solo will stick the well trodden path.
