This event has been postponed due to forecasted rain. The event is being moved to January. Dates will be announced soon!

Dates: January 3-5
Feel free to arrive anytime on Jan 3, and if you want to arrive earlier in the week, you're certainly welcome!

OTG Crew will be arriving Friday around noon. The location can be easily reached by any stock 4x4 or AWD vehicle.

Location: Oak Flat Campground in the Lake Pillsbury basin. Camping is $5 / night (pay cash to the iron ranger on site).
Google Maps Location: https://g.co/kgs/YpgQAKm

The Basics/ Things to Know
  • Camping fee is $5 / night (paid on site to the iron ranger)
  • Bring plenty of firewood if you can!
  • Bring your best self and be respectful to other campers. We're all here to have fun!
  • Tread lightly and leave no trace. Let's leave it better than we found it!

Activities
  • Options to explore nearby dirt roads and OHV trail Options will range from 4x4 only to AWD/softroad routes. More info + GPX files will be posted here as the date nears.
  • Hang out at camp and play games!
  • Target shooting approx 1 mile away at the end of the Gravelly airstrip
Pets
You're welcome to bring your dogs as long as they get along with other dogs and people. If your pet behaves in an aggressive manner, we will ask you to tie them up safely away from the main camp.

Campfires/Firewood
Bring lots of wood if you can! Expect sub-freezing temperatures at night.

Bummed that you're sold out. I would actually be able to make this one

@DANNER definitely not sold out as I just published this the other day! I had the tickets on hidden while trying to figure out the exact dates. They're ready to reserve now after you tipped me off ;)

@Jkbeachum tbd, hoping to yank my kid from school around 2pm, so perhaps sometime around 430 depending on northbound traffic.

I’ll be there and may or may not have my dog or (adult-ish) son with me. I’ll bring a bit of firewood along. I’m looking forward to the trip.

Just an extra reminder, bring firewood if you can!!! It will definitely be a bit chilly at night.

Hey all. We’ll (me, my wife, our dog and firewood) be there around 5 pm or so. I see that sunset is 4:50 pm so it sounds like a dark arrival. We look forward to meeting everyone.

@OakSonoma I've been watching it all weekend. We're going to punt on this weekend's event, and instead move it to a weekend in January. It will simply be some cold weather camping :p

I was potentially looking at moving to Jan 3-5, as I expect a lot of kids will still be out of school through the 5th at least. Any thoughts?

I will not be in town that weekend, but don’t change the date just because of me!

We're running with the 3-5th, weather permitting. Keep an eye on the events page, as our next BaseCamp event will be in April in Big Sur, about 45 min from King City.

Oak flat lists as having potable water. Know if they shut it down during winter?

@Rfeustel I wouldn't bank on it... I don't recall running water when we were last there, but hey, it's not like I looked for it either!

If I am not mistaken They have running water but it’s seasonal from spring to autumn since in the winter they have freezing temperatures they shot the water off. But at this time of the year you will have plenty water running on the creeks.
