Moab in the new Land Cruiser 250

Got my new 1958 Land Cruiser 250 partially built, still having a hard time getting parts for mods. But I put the Westcott Pre-Collar life on, 35's, Prinsu Pro Rack, cut the steps off of the predator steps (was still waiting on sliders) and headed to Moab with a group of other Toyota enthusiast. First of all a lot of people questioned the hybrid 4 banger, as a owner of a 200 Series as well with a V-8 this 4 banger kicks ass, loads of power. Even though I didn't have real sliders and no bumpers yet I was able to do every trail that I wanted including Poison Spider, Top of the World, Seven Mile Rim, Hells Revenge, Fins & Things and a few others. Had help with spotting and the new rig performed flawlessly. No regrets on the purchase, just got my sliders from Westcott and putting them on today which will give me some relief lol. Just ordered the Dissent Offroad front bumper but won't see that for a couple of months. Will just need the rear bumper and a real lift once available. Waiting on Dobinson's long travel which is still in design phase. 2024-10-08 07.15.25.jpg 2024-10-10 13.45.59.jpg 2024-10-08 21.47.16.jpg 2024-10-10 09.23.38.jpg 2024-10-05 21.38.14.jpg 2024-10-07 07.33.05.jpg 2024-10-05 17.13.01.jpg 2024-10-10 22.48.23.jpg

@deaconagent Did you have a 4x4/overlanding vehicle before the J250? I really love the design of the new GX and LC Prado, but I'm partial to the square lights on the LCP, maybe because most folks have opted for the retro round lights ;)

I'm curious how that 4 banger manages out on the trail and what the on road/off road driving characteristics are like. Even though my current rig is a Ram 3500, I'm still partial to Toyotas, especially anything in the LC family! In fact, I'd guess a GX470, 4th Gen T4R or 2nd gen Tacoma is likely in my future. I need a dependable rig that I can beat on more technical/rockier trails. The Ram is a hulking beast, and the maintenance cost (mostly drivetrain/suspension) is significantly higher than any Toyota I ever owned :p
