If you guys would like to get a second group together, let's make it happen. I won't be able to join, but looking at the number of folks on the current waiting list, there are quite a few folks who'd love to go explore the Mojave. Feel free to shoot me a DM or reply below.

I'll be at Afton Canyon Campground Friday late afternoon/evening.

Here's a pic of my 2005 GMC Yukon

See everyone in about a month!

Looking forward to seeing you guys at Afton on Friday! Looking at the GSMR stuff it looks like there are two variations of privacy tones, my radio is able to use CTCSS.

Here's a picture of my Bronco II as she sits today

This is creeping up on us. Only two weeks out. A couple of reminders:
  • Check out your rig and be sure it is ready for the trip. It's always a good idea to get under there with a torque wrench or at least put a wrench on everything.
  • Check your spare. Does it still have air?
  • Basic tools
  • Firewood. The plan is for everyone to bring a bit. Now that we are camping two nights, we may need more.
  • Check your air-up system
  • Check your fire extinguisher
  • Check your air filter (not a bad idea to carry a spare)
  • Check your radios. If you are running a hand-held, please be sure to have extra batteries and a way to charge.
Speaking of comms. Here is the plan.
The primary group channel for keeping the group together while rolling will be GMRS Ch16 privacy code 6 (462.5750 25kHz CTCSS 82.5). We will mostly want to keep this clear for communicating navigation, groupkeeping, or any problems that pop up.
To monitor the HAM band and as our social channel, we will monitor and use 146.520. If we interfere with the calling frequency, we can switch to 146.415 as a backup.

...HO! Don't forget to bring a cool rock if you want to contribute to the traveler monument and a penny to the can at the penny tree.
