San Rafael Swell

A group of friends and I (5 rigs total, all Toyota) went on a route I had worked out many months back. Spectacular. We entered via Black Dragon Canyon and exited at Temple Mountain. Along the way we hit the old swinging bridge, Buckhorn Wash, camped on the edge of The Wedge with its awesome views of Utah’s Grand Canyon, the Red Ledges (where we ran into a Kevin Costner film crew filming the first in a four-movie production written by, directed by and starred in by Mr. Costner himself (they were only one of two groups of people we ran into during 5 days in The Swell, amazingly), Eva Conover Trail (what was she smoking??), the incredible Eagle Arch, Lucky Strike ghost town, saw Hondu Arch way up high near Lucky Strike, Tomsich Butte, Chute and Crack Canyons and Temple Butte. It was over Labor Day weekend, and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Epic trip. I had a close brush with death (that experience traumatized the person behind me and we used a spotter for the other four rigs). If you haven’t experienced the Swell, go. You will NOT be disappointed. 4D42C101-7FD5-4FEA-8E6F-A352BF423A26.jpeg461A5E94-E4EF-4456-91BF-5E7A272F892D.jpeg8D157035-A2DF-404C-8441-E341E198ECE3.jpegD4E5DC88-6242-493A-A667-53F485CFEEC4.jpeg7A61D47C-D9D4-45CB-AAD2-2CAF7B4E0D24.jpeg9D6BB3ED-2D56-474C-BE8B-255BF5940925.jpeg3F85BF92-44F4-4DAB-896F-04D12A52F6BD.jpeg41F0CD90-0D7B-4698-B93E-4602F2E2872B.jpeg
